the Night of the Meek and features Art Carney as the bum/department store Santa.
Night of the Meek was remade during the 1985 revival of the series, but I don't remember who played the bum in that one. That full episode is on youtube as The Twilight Zone (1985) Night of the Meek. The original is better, of course, but that version isn't bad.

WHAT?! I had no clue Night of the Meek had a remake! I'll have to look through YouTube for it tonight. Thanks so much for letting me know. My only problem with the episode is the main antagonists feel like comedy characters by the end. I wish there could of been a more serious treatment to their reaction to him becoming Santa...
