    the echo is specifically for operators to test their echomail setup to make sure it works... the bots are to help make it go faster and easier without human intervention...

    in this case, the bot did not take rescans into account so when it looked at its lastread marker and saw a ton of new posts that matched its existing filters, it did its job as designed...

    i suspect the bots' operators have been working on them to add "skip rescanned messages"...
