I could load Process Monitor, run sbbs and then capture that PM log
and send that. Would that help?
I think I had a similar issue while I was installing SBBS on a
Windows 11 Insider Preview on a virtual machine.
I did a couple of experiments, but what I found out was I was
installing the wrong version of the VC redist files; you should
download and install the x86 instead of the x64 ones (but in my
case, I just installed both; they installed together nicely and I
didn't have problems with my SBBS executables.)
When I was still had the x64 version installed, I wondered why the
dll files are not found even though I saw the .dll files in
The 'console' is not the Synchronet Control Panel. It's the Windows command prompt. Open that, 'cd' to your 'sbbs\exec' directory, and manually type "sbbs".
Could you confirm that you have only installed the dll files via the Microsoft installer, and not copied arbitrarily the .dll files to your SBBS installation directories?
Okay, good to know. Why not v3.20 install then?
But just a few minutes ago, MRO got online with me and he figured
it out and now it is all working!!! YAY!!! Wotta guy! Big Thanks!
I had bad DLLs from the site I listed earlier in this thread.
But I think the first DLLs I copied from the original Windows 7
machine were the original problem as the error showed up before
I went searching for solutions on youtube and downloaded the junk
DLLs.

Sounds like a good opportunity to stop being an "autopilot sysop" and actually figure out how things work... You know, like a real sysop.
Would I then get to be more like you?
I hope not.
The correct place to Microsoft packa
is from Microsoft's web-sites. There
Dont know. i do know that gamers use that pack of vc distributables with the batchfile that launches them one by one and i see online gamers are complaining about this error msg.
So i think there is a mix of 32bit and 64 bit dlls. but like i said, you now have the correct ones in sbbs\exec so it will work fine for you in the future.
When I was running my BBS on Windows, I don't remember having to copy any additional DLLs into my sbbs\exec directory in order to get Synchronet to run.

Neither did I on Windows 7.
The motherboard that I am running on my new machine ran 3.19b on it for over a year. That was Windows 10.
I only ran into the issue on this same mb trying to run 3.19b on
windows 11.
