Hi y'all,
I just wanted to let you know that earlier today I released v1.5.4 of Moebiusý for your ANSI creation pleasure.
Here are some of the recent features and fixes to have gone into it s v1.4.0;
1. Is there any documentation for using the new additions such as adding TheDraw fonts or implementing the animations? I've not been able to find anything on the github site. Nor have I been successful just "playing" around.
There isn't any documentation yet, however I can tell you that to use TheDraw fonts is straight forward enough.
To use TDF Fonts:
First you need to have a list of the fonts somewhere on your disk, then click the Aa button in the left tool panel, this opens up the TDF font chooser, at the top of that popup is a button to pick the dir where the TDF fonts are located, once you have chosen that dir, you will see the font names appear on the left of that popup, and you can scroll through with the up/down arrows or scroll with the mouse to find the font you wish to use, once you select the font to use, click the x button at the top-right of the popup, and then click somewhere on the canvas, when you do a flashing cursor appears there, then just type.
To use the animations:
With a blank canvas or loaded ANS file, click View->Animation Mode (or press CTRL+SHIFT+M), then you will see a panel appear at the bottom of the main window. This is your animation tool bar. From here, you will see it has 1 frame, and some controls. Make the first frame show the "beginning" of whatever you want to be animated, then click "+ Clone", you will now have 2 frames and the new frame will be selected (blue). Now you can do a slight change in this new frame, and then click "+ Clone" again to make a 3rd frame, make another change, and so on.
If you want to make a new scene, click "+ Scene" and it will create a blank frame. From here you can set the "Reveal" to one of the transitions so that whatever you draw on this new "Scene" will be transitioned in from the last frame of the previous scene.
Once you've finished your animation or you want to play it to see what it's like, choose the speed (2400 I recommend as it allows you to see it better), then click the 4th button with a hover text of "Play as ANSImation (streaming)". The button to the left is also a play button but it just cylces through each frame, useful just to see quick changes.
Once you're happy with the file, or you want to stop and continue another time, click save and make sure the file type is "Moebius Layered" with the extention .mob - that will allow all the animation frames to be saved as you've made them.
To export the ANSImation to be used on a BBS, click File->Export As ANSImation, the filetype will be fixed, the extension will be .ans and you should then be able to view the new file on a BBS.
2. Since I'm new to doing ansi works, are there any web sites or ???
that you can recommend for tutorials?
If you want tutorials on drawing ANSI art, in the help menu is a "ANSI Art Tutorials at 16Colors" and if you click that, it will open a browser and show you how to ANSI =)
I don't know if there are any ANSImation specific tutorials, but you might be able to find some using TheDraw which should be fairly easy to translate into Moebiusý.
I hope that this helps =)
